Every 25 years, we commemorate the foundation of Asahi Glass by inaugurating a new vehicle for giving something back to society. We marked our 25th year by establishing the Asahi Chemical Industries Support Association-predecessor of the Asahi Glass Foundation. In our 50th year we established the Asahi Glass Scholarship Foundation. In honor of our 75th anniversary, and as a means to contribute something to communities abroad, we created scholarship foundations in Thailand and Indonesia, where we have a long history of maintaining various large-scale operations. Grants of 100 million yen were provided for the students of each country.
Both the Asahi Glass Thailand Foundation and the Asahi Glass Indonesia Foundation were created primarily to assist students from those countries in coming to Japan to study. Since 1990, however, the Asahi Glass Scholarship Foundation has taken over this responsibility, allowing the Thailand and Indonesia foundations to devote themselves to supporting scholarship within their respective countries.
